Why the physical stack matters
Robots and inverters sit at the boundary between software and the physical world. They can carry sensors, communications, control systems, firmware, and remote access into factories, energy systems, homes, and data-center supply chains. That makes cybersecurity, maintenance, provenance, and vendor control part of the same policy question as industrial competition.
A ban can reduce one category of exposure while creating another if trusted alternatives are scarce or expensive. The durable measure of success is whether the United States can expand secure domestic and allied supply, verify components and updates, preserve competition, train the necessary workforce, and prevent transition costs from simply moving to customers and ratepayers.
