The editorial desk checks the original source record, the wording on the page and the evidence supplied by the reader. A source’s disagreement with interpretation is considered seriously, but it does not automatically establish a factual error.
Substantive correction requests receive priority. General feedback is welcome, although a personal reply cannot be guaranteed in every case.
Corrections, clarifications and updates
- Correction: fixes a material factual error or misleading statement.
- Clarification: improves wording or context without reversing the original account.
- Update: adds a consequential development that occurred after publication.
Material changes are reflected in the story’s updated date and, where the change affects the reader’s understanding, a note is added to the article. Typographical and formatting fixes that do not alter meaning may be made without a correction note.
