The relevant inequality is not merely who can access an AI tool, but who can afford the adult supervision, protected environment, curriculum design, and measurement that make its use educationally defensible.

The product is a supervised system, not an AI tutor alone
Alpha says students use adaptive software for two hours of core academics and spend the rest of the day in workshops. Adults remain present as Guides focused on motivation and relationships rather than conventional lesson planning and grading.
That makes comparisons with ordinary chatbot use misleading. The premium package includes schedule redesign, adult attention, curated software, and institutional control over how the tool is used.
Guardrails are becoming an educational resource
The report contrasts the private model with public schools facing declining literacy, uneven AI policy, teacher turnover, and less room to experiment. Many students already use chatbots for homework whether or not a school has designed a learning process around them.
A ban and an unrestricted chatbot are both cheaper than a supervised learning system. Neither gives a student the same combination of feedback, boundaries, motivation, and human judgment that wealthy families are buying.
Price and novelty are not proof of learning
The reporting describes a compelling model but does not establish long-term comparative outcomes. Families, school size, admissions, resources, and willingness to experiment can all influence results independently of the AI tutor.
Public adoption should follow transparent measurement of literacy, mathematical understanding, independent problem solving, student wellbeing, privacy, and performance after the software is removed.
- Compare durable learning, not only daily task completion or speed.
- Publish outcomes across student backgrounds and baseline performance.
- Measure how much human support is required for the software to work safely.
- Fund public pilots that include training, oversight, and independent evaluation.
