The plan moved faster than the evidence

Project OT reportedly imagined smaller, talent-dense human teams supervising AI agents that handled daily work across the company. Plans affecting people at that scale require more than a plausible model demo or a rising volume of machine-assisted activity.

The 220 percent versus 36 percent comparison does not measure the entire company's productivity, but it exposes the core measurement risk. Internal motion can multiply while the outcome visible to users grows much more slowly.

Workers cannot be the uncontrolled variable

The cancellation followed internal opposition as well as operational doubts. Worker resistance is evidence about job knowledge, workload, reliability, and transition risk that a top-down automation model may omit.

Leaders should publish the task-level evidence behind any replacement plan, test quality and rework, fund transition support, and use reversible pilots before making headcount the dependent variable.
