The instruction layer becomes live software

Dirac says BuildOS ingests design and product-lifecycle data, maintains a connected model of the product and factory, and generates the process plans and work instructions that translate engineering intent into production work.

That replaces a stack of manually maintained documents with a system that can propagate a design change through the build. The benefit is speed and consistency; the risk is that one mistaken interpretation can also propagate.

Reported productivity needs independent measurement

The release lists reductions of up to 95 percent in work-instruction authoring time and operator onboarding, plus up to 85 percent improvements in change release and first-pass build time. The wording describes the best reported customer outcomes rather than a controlled comparison across manufacturers.

Buyers should ask for the baseline, sample size, product complexity, defect rate, rework, operator experience, and safety outcomes. Time saved is valuable only when the resulting instruction remains correct and usable.

Approval must remain a technical control

Engineers need a change diff, source data, model rationale, confidence limits, affected stations, and rollback path before approval. Workers on the floor need a fast channel for reporting that the generated plan conflicts with physical reality.

CAD and engineering data are also sensitive assets, especially in aerospace and defense. Encryption, access control, logging, data-residency choices, and incident response belong in the deployment decision alongside productivity.
