Analysis frame
Peer-reviewed research
Keep assisted task performance, error detection and durable independent competence separate; promising results for one outcome do not establish the other two.
- Patients, clinicians and clinical educators
- Learners and organizations designing AI-assisted professional work
- Prospective patient outcomes and workflow generalizability remain unproven.
- The SYNC framework's proposed mechanisms and interventions need systematic testing.
- Human review must be resourced as skilled work, not reduced to an approval click.
- Training may need unaided assessments as well as measurements of assisted productivity.
A comparison worth making carefully
The clinical benchmark uses retrospective hospitalization information and a constrained diagnostic task; it is not a randomized trial of real-world patient outcomes. The learning article introduces a theoretical framework. Neither study establishes long-term clinical skill retention from the other study's workflow.
